On December 20, Harris County Sheriffs Office Community Services Deputies and students who were completing their community service hours from Judge Mike Parrotts Court, delivered gifts to several families throughout east Harris County as part of the Adopt-A-Family Program.
The Adopt-A-Family Program is a program that sponsors indigent families during the Christmas Holidays. The program is a collaboration of donations from area businesses, the Harris County Sheriffs Office, and the Harris County Sheriffs Office Citizen Police Academy Alumni.
The Adopt-A-Family Program, which was coordinated by Deputy Bumpers, enabled indigent families to receive gifts for Christmas that they wouldnt have received otherwise.
With the donated funds, Sheriffs deputies, Harris County Sheriffs Office Citizens Police Academy Alumni, and students doing community service, all went shopping for the gifts for each individual family.
The gifts were selected from the wish lists of each individual child. Some of the gifts consisted of dolls, games, bikes, clothes, etc. The families that received the gifts resided in Baytown, Highlands, Channelview, and the Cloverleaf areas.
Overall, the Adopt-A-Family Program was huge success this year. Everyone who participated expressed they were glad they were apart of such a positive program that touched so many lives.
