State Rep. Otto receives Community Banking Award

DAYTON– Texas State Representative John Otto of Dayton, was selected to receive the 2010 Trailblazer Award, presented by the Leadership Division of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT).
Otto represents District 18 in the Texas House of Representatives, which includes Liberty, Polk and portions of Montgomery Counties. The award was presented on Nov. 3, during the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.

Since 1997, the Trailblazer Award has been presented to a state or federal legislator who not only supports and exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit of Texas, but who also exhibits the courage and independent spirit best captured by the independent banks of Texas.
“In a very short period of time, John Otto has established himself as a ‘player’ in the Texas Legislature”, said Steve Scurlock, Executive Vice President of IBAT. “His grasp of complex state budget and tax issues is extraordinary, and along with his integrity and sense of fair play, has positioned him as a recognized leader among his colleagues. Representative Otto is a very worthy recipient of this award.”
