Larkin tapped as Rodeo Chairman

Rick Loggins, insurance salesman and auctioneer had been Crosby Fair & Rodeo Chairman for the last three years with great success, passes the gavel to Deputy Ricky Larkin now Chairman of Crosby Fair & Rodeo at Saturday’s Crawfish Festival before the Live Auction.

Widening of FM 2100 stalls

CROSBY – Although two proposed projects to widen FM 2100 from Hare Road to FM 1960 in Huffman have been funded for design and right of way acquisition to be completed in April of 2017, 0% of the right of way acquisition has been completed according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Design concepts show that the proposals are for a four lane divided highway from Crosby to Huffman, various property owners have phoned in concerns for access to their businesses and design implementation is still underway.

Plans included the purchase of eight businesses between the proposed roadway.

Rep. Wayne Smith R. 127th District had pushed the proposal through to legislation.

Crawfish Fest featured music, dance and auction

CROSBY – There was plenty to partake of at the Rockin C Arena last Saturday as the Second Annual Crawfish Festival combined food and music.

Although slower attendance than last year few missed a chance to eat crawfish made by the Crawfish Shak or visit with the ladies of the Crosby Huffman Chamber of Commerce selling T-Shirts.

Other vendors offered the boudan, fried catfish and Cajun varieties.

Diginitaries including Wayne Smith R, 127th and Precinct 3 Constable candidates.

Three bands played for the event making music of sort a feature throughout the night. In the late evening, William Michael Morgan brought the party to life as many danced and most just watched but enjoyed the country sound.

The weather was perfect Texas Springtime.
