Santa brings Greetings to Highlands

HO HO HO in Highlands. Santa Claus came to town Tuesday night, riding on a Fire Engine. With him were Miss Highlands and Jr. Miss Highlands.

A long line of children and parents awaited them, in Highlands Railroad Park on San Jacinto Street across from the fire station.

Santa took his seat in the Pavilion, and listened as each child told him his wish list, and then had his or her picture taken by photographer Susan Franke.

Meanwhile, cookies were being served at the fire station, by Highlands Horizons, the Crosby-Lynchburg Chamber, and the Boy Scouts of Troop 107. In addition the Rotary Club was cooking and serving hot chocolate to all.

Community organizations had decorated 12 Christmas trees leading up to the Pavilion. These groups included GCM/FFA, Highlands 4H, Highlands Jr. School, HIghlands Elementary, B. P. Hopper Primary, Highlands Little League, Highlands Horizons, Highlands Rotary Club, Cub Scout Pack 107, Sampson Masonic Lodge, Highlands-Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce, and Hannah Harpster. Santa chose the tree he thought was the most beautifully decorated, the Chamber tree, with a Red, White, and Blue theme.
