CROSBY – Tough Enough to Wear Pink a committee of the Crosby Fair & Rodeo raised a stunning amount of money from the Bras for the Cause last February. Last Saturday they gave those funds to two deserving charities that help people fighting cancer, and they passed a million dollar milestone in funds they raised and gave away, too.

Lanette Armstrong said, “I am thankful to have the support of the community that we have year after year. Although we are a small community it blows me away that we are able to do this and give back. There are so many people that are in such need.”

The American Childhood Cancer Organization, previously named Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, a 501(C)3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to childhood cancer, received $30,000. The organization distributes books to families battling cancer on the treatment and late effects of childhood cancer, operates a 1-800 phone line, serves as a patient navigation for information and referral services, operates a website on cancer treatments, provides peer support groups, in-hospital visits, and assistance programs for families with children with cancer, as well as community awareness programs.
