The Highlands Horizons club held their 62nd annual Miss Highlands Pageant, and 27th annual Jr. Miss Highlands Pageant, last Saturday, at the Highlands Junior School.
The Jr. Miss Pageant was in the afternoon, and the Miss Highlands Pageant was held in the evening. The theme for the Pageant was “Friends.”
BARRETT STATION – At least three people, cars and the Valero gas station where it happened were shot multiple times Saturday night.
The Valero at the corner of FM 2100 and FM 1942 in Barrett Station has become known as a local hangout on occasion. Occasions like after a shooting on Saturday night.
Authorities report that several men were allegedly hanging out when an argument broke out. Push became shove and a fistfight ensued. The fighting became a gun fight and bullets went in all directions.
CROSBY – US 90 became the scene of a fatality Tuesday night about midnight, when a wrong-way driver hit an oncoming van.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevy Astro Van and a Ford Focus were headed home eastbound from their church in the 4400 block of US 90 when a Toyota Sienna came at them in the wrong direction on the overpass of Runneburg Road (formerly known as Die-Way 90 before the overpass). The Astro van and the Toyota collided, spinning both in a counterclockwise direction and the Focus struck the driver’s side of the Astro van.
