Cougars maul Broncos 44-0

The US 90 Rivalry has another game in the books and this time it is an overwhelming victory for the Cougars as they blank the Dayton Broncos 44-0.

Two rebuilding teams clashed and Jerry Prieto won his first Head Coach event against legendary Jeff Nations.

Early action demonstrated the game. The Cougars sacked the Bronco’s Quarterback on the first play and then recovered a fumble on the 3 yard line. Deniquez Dunn proved in this game he can pass, catch and scramble. In the first quarter the Cougars were up 13 to 0.

In the second quarter the Cougars would score two touchdowns and field goal. Dunn would toss a strike to Kobe Coker. It was Dunn all night as he connected 10 of 17 throws and scrambled for 92 yards on a dozen tries. The Cougars passed for 145 yards and ran for 252 yards in the blow out.

The history stands this year as (1-3 and 1-1 in district) for the Cougars and (1-4 and 0-2 in district) for the Broncos. In the US 90 Rivalry, the Broncos are still up by 10 games, retaining the upper hand 33 games to 22.

The first district game was last week for the Cougars being raided by Vidor Pirates 37 to 27 in a last quarter duel.

The Cougars go on to play Indians (4-1) from Port Naches Groves this week, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Homecoming is against Santa Fe Indians on Oct. 18 (1-3.)
