The Highlands Rotary Club held their annual installation of officers last Friday night, at a banquet at Monument Inn. Jerry Fallin, a commercial real estate broker from Baytown, was installed as the new president.

Guests at the ceremony included State Representative Briscoe Cain, Rotary District Governor Scott Rainey, Past Rotary District Governor Bob Gebhard, and realtor Jeff Walters.

Briscoe Cain presided over the swearing in of new officers and board, and Bob Gebhard presented Rotarian and Veteran Charlie Ward with a 50 year Vietnam War medal from the U.S. Congress.

Outgoing president Andy Scott was honored as the Rotarian of the year. In his acceptance, he reviewed the accomplishments of his term, including a new van for the Stratford Library, 19 scholarships totaling $32,500, hurricane relief for residents of Louisiana, support of needy families in Highlands through the Food Pantry, and bicycles for students at local schools with perfect attendance.
