Baytown prepares for pivotal city council elections Nov. 4

Baytown residents are gearing up for a significant election on November 4, 2025, with city council seats and major infrastructure propositions on the ballot. Early voting runs from October 20 to October 31, offering voters ample opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.

Council Races: Who’s Running?
This year, voters in Districts 1, 2, and 3 will select their representatives for the Baytown City Council. District 1 features a contest between Laura Alvarado and Mercedes Renteria, III. District 3 is a three-way race with Kenrick Griffith, Renita Price, and Judith Ann Cushman DuBose vying for the seat. In District 2, Sarah Graham is running unopposed.

Each council member elected will serve a three-year term, helping to shape Baytown’s future on issues ranging from public safety to infrastructure. Candidates recently outlined their priorities at a public forum, emphasizing community engagement, support for local businesses, infrastructure improvements, and public safety.

Election Process and Voter Information
The City of Baytown holds its elections annually on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The filing period for candidates ran from July 19 to August 18, 2025, with early voting scheduled for October 20–31. To qualify, candidates must be U.S. citizens, registered voters in Baytown, at least 18 years old, and meet residency requirements. Those convicted of a felony or found mentally incapacitated by a court are ineligible.
