High School Football: Crosby begins “Flanigan” era with close 21-20 victory

Late in the 4th Quarter

HOUSTON — A late defensive stand by the Crosby Cougars provided the extra push the team needed to open the season with a win and start off new Coach Kevin Flanigan career at Crosby on a high note.

With less than a half minute to go in the game, the Cougars defense stopped a two-point conversion attempt, securing Crosby’s 20-20 win over the St. Thomas Eagles.

One of the goals Flanigan has set for the special team was to block a kick. That goal was met early in the game when Carl Jackson blocked a St. Thomas punt. Ronnie Alexander grabbed the loose ball and returned it 32 yards for a Crosby touchdown.
