HARRIS COUNTY — Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia was recently named the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) president of its board of directors.
An active member of NALEO, Commissioner Garcia becomes the first Texan and only the second woman to lead the organization.
She previously served on its board of directors from 1999 through 2004. As NALEOs seventh president, she leads a constituency of more than 6,000 Latino elected and appointed officials.
