Unpermitted Boarding Home Shut Down in Crosby Area, Nine Residents Relocated
MARCH 4, 2022 – The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office (HCFMO) and the Harris County Sherriff’s Office (HCSO) found nine residents living in an unpermitted boarding home located in the 500 block of Cypress Avenue in the Aradia Gardens section of Barrett Station.
According to officials, the residents were found living in deplorable conditions and transported from the unpermitted boarding home to Memorial Herman North East for observation.
The Harris County Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Boarding Home Detail transported the occupants out of the unsafe environment. Authorities close boarding home in Barrett Station HCFMO is seeking a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to ban this location from operating as a boarding home.
The unpermitted boarding home had apparent mold, torn walls, clutter, and bed bug infestation. Investigators also found locked doors. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office and Harris County Sheriff’s Office rely on residents to report abuse when they see the signs of a bad boarding home operator on their block.
