Unique Live Auction items at Rotary Chili Feast

HIGHLANDS – Rotarians are in full preparation for their big annual Chili Feast, to be held next Saturday, February 4th at the social hall of St. Jude’s Catholic Church on S. Main Street.

A large crowd is expected this year, as the pandemic subsides and people are anxious to get out and meet their friends in this 48th year tradition.

The event includes delicious chili dinners, cooked with Chester Stasney’s world-famous recipe, a raffle for 16 prizes including a new 2023 Chevy automobile, a silent auction and a live auction. Chili Chairman Denise Smith pointed out that the live auction contains a number of desirable items, which are offered only once a year to event participants.

This year the auction will include a 3 night stay at the Coastal Hideaway Resort in Long Beach, Mississippi, and also a Weekend Lake Trip. This is the first time unique vacation venues have been offered, and they promise to bring a lot of interest.

Other desirable bid items include sports memorabilia such as an Astros Kyle Tucker autographed bat, an Astros Chas McCormick autographed baseball, and an autographed Astros Chas McCormick autographed 2023 World Series framed picture of the team.

Also available will be four unique and special handmade quilt by Connie Russell, including one for the Houston Astros.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, there are several Valentine themed items to be auctioned.

Other items include metal signs, outdoor furniture, a fire pit, golf bag, picnic table for children, tricycle, garden cart, generator, battery charger, pressure washer, and more.

Rotarians and local businesses are selling tickets now, for $100 for the raffle and two chili dinners. Denise Smith said they are going fast this year.
