Lady Pats maintain perfect record with tie

BAYTOWN – Don’t tell the girls soccer teams of 19-4A that there is no talent at the new high schools. The district’s newest high schools: Goose Creek Memorial and Kingwood Park are sitting at the top of the standings with undefeated records.

Memorial owns an 8-0-2 record, while Kingwood Park has a 7-0-2 record. The two ties on each school’s record have come at the other school’s hand.

The teams picked up their second tie of the season last week fighting to a 0-0 deadlock.

The Lady Patriot’s Shelby Rodriquez had 20 saves in the game.

Goose Creek Memorial has two games left in the season. They will play C.E. King on Friday, then will close out the season on Tuesday against Crosby. Kingwood Park has three games left.

Following next week’s games the two teams will take different routes in the playoffs. Assuming that they end the season both undefeated, Kingwood will hold the first seed ranking since they scored more goals on the season. The Patriots will take the second seed schedule, making a potential third game against Kingwood Park a far-off possibility.
