CROSBY – A local Chevrolet dealership has established itself as one that believes in giving back to the community in a way that benefits the community at large.

It began with a simple concept from the local family owner, Robert Turner: “Our People Make the Difference.” Robert Turner made his home in Dallas, owner/operating a couple of dealerships before purchasing John Keating Chevrolet in Crosby. He knew he needed an involved sales manager and when one of the leading applicants had an e-mail address listed as crosbychevyman@aol.com, he figured that was a good clue. The dealership at the corner of FM 2100 and US 90 established themselves as being far better than their predecessor at getting involved with the community and local people. Mr. Turner made a diligent search for the right people to run this dealership and made their motto, “Our People Make the Difference.”

Of David Mendez, saying “Local boy” might be an understatement. He grew up in Galena Park and now lives in Cove, Texas, a member of Faith Family Church, Crosby Huffman Chamber, Dayton Chamber, North Channel Area Chamber, Baytown Chamber, a North Shore Rotarian and a 24 Year Sponsor of the Crosby Fair and Rodeo. He is a big fan of reality shows and he might have even have sent a video in to Survivor, and you should ask him how he feels about the Texans… Enough said.

David has had two major events happen right here since starting in the car business at John Keating in 1994. First, he met his beautiful wife in 1996 while selling her a car right on this lot. They married in 1998 and have two beautiful children. Second, he was selected by Robert Turner to help turn things around and run Turner Chevrolet on June 2, 2014. He believes it’s all about sincere relationships, treat people the way you want to be treated. The culture here is to make friends in this business take care of them and help make a visit here stress free.

“You reap what you sow or you get what you give so give all you can.”

“Working for a family owned business is a blessing. We value your business and we try to do our best to earn it.”

“Every manufacturer makes a great product, but they are built by man, so we cannot promise things will never break, but we will be here for you if they do.”

“We can’t promise it will never rain, but we can promise to hold the umbrella.”

David and the entire staff care about the community and they give back as often as possible.

“Life in the car business has brought me so many blessings. I try and pay it back with a sincere desire to help people not only save time and money, but Make It Fun as well! All of our People Really do make the Difference!”

It isn’t only a question of sales associates; one must have someone who can fix the inevitable stuff that a world of mayhem can throw at a vehicle. So, Mendez decided the perfect dealership would have the man known as the wizard of car works — the “Fonz of Fixing” — that would be Gary Hays.

A Service Manager usually wears a lot of hats, and Gary is no exception. Gary, a Crosby resident, has 37 years of service experience. His vast service knowledge was an asset when he joined our team in June of 2014. Even though he knows his way around a vehicle, he can also be found repairing issues with the property as well. You might even find him here on Sundays pressure washing the service drive. It’s even possible that he might be the mechanic that worked on your car. Gary believes in going the extra mile for our customers and the Turner team. His motto is, “If it’s not broke, I can’t fix it, but if it is broke, it’s a guarantee that I’ll get to the bottom of it.”

Gary is dedicated to building the best Service Department in the region. He is willing to do the work to build from virtually nothing into someplace our community can be proud of and come for all their transportation needs. With his drive and determination Turner Chevrolet will get there.
