Bras for the Cause Annual fundraiser

BAYTOWN — The Crosby Fair & Rodeo’s Crosby Bras for the Cause Committee continued its strong community-wide support of breast cancer prevention, patient support programs at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital by recently presenting a check for $90,000 to support the hospital’s Pink Heals Fund and Bras for the Cause Breast Care Fund.

The money was derived from the committee’s annual Bras for the Cause fundraiser. This was the 10th anniversary of the event, which has given over $1 million over the years.

“The committee would like to thank the people of Crosby and surrounding communities for their support,” said board member Debbie Holmelin. “The people of this community are the reason Bras for the Cause is able to make such a generous donation to a very worthwhile organization.”

Pink Heals is a patient assistance fund that provides financial assistance to eligible patients undergoing treatment at Houston Methodist by paying third-party vendors to cover expenses such as mortgage, rent, utilities, medical equipment, prescription medications and transportation. The Breast Care Fund covers screening and diagnostic mammograms as well as breast biopsy and MRI procedures for eligible patients.

“This generous gift demonstrates our community’s trust and confidence in our staff and physicians, and allows us to continue providing unparalleled cancer care to the Baytown community and surrounding area,” said Nancy Thompson, Director of Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center at Baytown. “The Bras for the Cause Committee continues to demonstrate amazing dedication and compassion with its support of cancer screening and cancer treatment in our community.”
