CROSBY – The community is mourning the loss of one of its leading citizens for many year, Russell Rogers. Rogers passed away on Monday, March 7 in Hico, Texas.
Originally from Oklahoma, Rogers came to Crosby in 1999 from Durant, Oklahoma and met and married his wife Shirley.
Russell and Shirley are remembered fondly for the energy and devotion that they gave to the success of the Crosby Fair & Rodeo.
Russell was a board member of the Crosby Fair and Rodeo Association from 2004, serving as the President until 2012. The Rock’n C Arena was his second home and he spent every spare moment supporting the youth and the fairgrounds.
In 2013 Russell and Shirley retired to Hico, Texas. A memorial service was held March 13 in Stephenville.
